about

Week 6's new single for my New Single Every Week For A Year Project came from one of my write and record a song in a day exercises. My friend Tom Deis and I spent 24 hours at his studio upstate and came up with this with the help of our friend Beau Sievers on drums.
My favorite part about the session is that before we started tracking, we'd jammed on a few ideas and while listening through them we picked which one to finish writing based on how much the jams made his 2 year old daughter dance. This one yielded the most rug cutting so we went with it. Be Sure to follow me on Spotify and Apple Music etc. to get more updates when I post new songs.

lyrics

Waving in the way your fingers seem to make
The story of what happened again happen in their wake,
I can see them paint between the few words that you speak
And build the history you’ve carried
That I now carry with the hope to do the same.

Yours is mine to take
As long as I don’t take and break
The history to pieces people pocket and erase
Like all the money that they’ve made,
And all the people who were paid and faked to make a bigger picture
Than the ones on the green paper.

Did you really think the stories that you make
Would simply fade off in the ether
And not carry any weight
How could you have said
It doesn’t matter what you say
How is it that you’ve never seen
That every story is the same
Is anybody listening, I see it shouting in our faces
But no one even noticed that it’s happening again.

I don’t wanna live in what you do and what you say
But I see that it’s happening, it’s happening again.
I don’t want our children growing up in what you’ve made
But it’s happening again, I see you letting it remain
I see it happening again. Happening in every word you say.
I see it happening again. I see it happening again.
